Probably because Studio Faire is run by a mixed media object maker and designer (Julia Douglas) and a photographer, musician and graphic designer (Colin Usher) we get particularly excited when we receive an application from a maker for a residency.

To date we have welcomed ceramicists Julia Feld et Peta Berghofer, jeweller Rebecca Wilson and textile artists Lene Helmer Nielsen et Sophia Lengle for residencies at Studio Faire.

Though we do not have specialist equipment for the creation of these crafts, each of these makers has valued the time to gather inspiration through photography, reading and sketchbooking, or to experiment with small scale maquettes.

Textile art or design (and the accompanying equipment required for the creation of it) travels well and we also have access to some pretty decent supplies to buy here in Nérac (fabrics, threads and so forth). Lene created a number of beautiful embroidery works on paper, created with watercolour, tulle fabric and linen threads and Sophia focused on fabulous creative collars in natural linens and bright cottons (pictured).

We are inspired by these talented craft makers and would love to welcome more like them to Studio Faire.

Find out about what they (and all our other past residents) worked on during their time with us ici.
