Studio Faire is constantly developing it’s network of like-minded souls to help better the creative lives and output of many individuals and groups.
This summer we are delighted to be welcoming a myriad of writers, painters, screenwriters and musicians.
We are about to start developing the Grange, the huge barn in the gardens. The plan is to have a large open space that can be adapted to suit many different projects and layouts. We are very excited about the opportunity to invite more musicians and performing arts groups to utilise the space, to experiment, develop and create.
By coming on a creative residency here at Studio Faire, we hope the place inspires and enriches new ideas as well as provides a welcome break from the pressures of the ‘hussle’ and of everyday life.
Colin has a background in theatre and dance having worked in Edinburgh in the 90s with many companies and troupes and is excited about developing the new space and creating a haven for creativity. He has also played in many bands, worked on studio recordings, music videos and events as well as having worked for over 22 years with one of Scotland’s greatest exports, The Proclaimers.
Julia’s infatuation is our interior, how it makes you feel and how best we can utilise it. Coming from her background as a fine artist and maker, she has experienced how it felt to be an artist in residence in four very different venues. Her specialist subject is ‘the home’ and with this knowledge and passion she is now renovating Studio Faire into a calm, comfortable and inspiring place to spend some time focusing on that new masterpiece.
With Colin’s experience in music and dance and Julia’s gallery experience (in exhibition co-ordination and display, administration, sales and education) together they are confident that they can continue to develop Studio Faire into a truly special and unique international residency venue and creative centre, which supports the development of new work by individuals, groups and organisations working in the cultural field.
