Over last winter, we transformed an old storage room into a sweet, cosy bedroom for our residents, meaning that we can now host four residents at a time in the main building, plus two in Faire Deux, our self-contained apartment.

Our first resident to christen the room is Artist-in-Residence, Amy Johnson, and her feedback has been perfect…

‘I love my room!’

She uses the room for relaxing in the evenings on the comfy, burnt orange armchair, under the giant pendant light, for sleeping in the ancient, carved wooden bed, and for practicing pilates on a mat on the floor. Though it’s our smallest room, she finds it perfectly adequate for everything she needs and an ideal retreat after a day’s activities in the Garage Studio on her costume making.

We don’t know the history behind this room. We don’t think it was ever a bedroom. There was no electrical socket for a start, but what there is are shelf brackets built into the plasterwork at each end of the room, as if it has been fully shelved down either side. It’s a bit of a mystery, so if you know the answer, please do get in touch!

This bedroom, paired with the Garage Studio, is now available for residents from next year. Please see available dates here.

How it was, below, and how it is now, above. We hope you love it as much as we do!
